Life is Unfair

Women always had to be fighting for rights, and a lot still do till this day. It is hurtful and wrong in so many ways, the way women were treated and looked at back in society. In the book “The Handmaid’s Tale” written by Margaret Atwood, while reading this book it frustrated me in ways that I was so sad for how the women were treated, but as I understand the whole meaning of the book now, I can see how people can view this book, and think this is how society can turn into. It is scary, but true.

Gilead had taken away women’s independence in every way they could, and the society during this time was unfair to women in every way possible. Women were unable to work, and it is upsetting because this is when gender roles were different, where men are supposed to be the ones that work, and women carry the children and just stay home with the kids. Even womens personal belongings were given to someone else, and usually was given to the closest male to them, and even women’s names were taken away from them, and it was upsetting to see women go through this.
