RIP Beowulf

The story Beowulf is a story that shows life and death situations in many of the different scenes. Beowulf is a character I would compare to Thor because he just comes off showing the “big guy” vibes. He is the hero everyone looks up to in the story, and people would know he would be there when they needed protection. That was just how Beowulf was, and he gave off those characteristics of being a hero. During this story, Beowulf had three big battles, and each battle was something different he fought each battle and gave his 100% effort. The story was not what I was expecting, in the end, it was something that took me by surprise because I overall thought the story would be boring and not interesting at all, but it was not as boring as I thought it would have been. The story had my attention through it, but the names were hard at first and they were confusing at times.

The three battles that Beowulf battled were all different, and he took control of all battles. The first battle was when people started to recognize his hero characteristics. The way he handled the first battle was when he took control and defeated Grendel. Beowulf showed characteristics of a hero in this battle, and right there and then I could tell he was the type of person that does not care what gets in his way he will try whatever to protect his people. The second battle Beowulf had was with Grendel’s mother. After Beowulf killed Grendel his mother wanted revenge she missed her son and wanted to payback Beowulf for what he did. Of course, they battled it out, and Beowulf won the battle and killed his mom not only did he put Grendel in the grave but also his Grendel’s mom. After those two were put in the grave he had one more battle that was a Dragon. The dragon was woken up because a slave was running from his owner, and came across this gold in the tower. He took a cup of gold and did not think anything of it, but the dragon woke up and started to flame the town with his fire breath.

When it came to the last battle Beowulf did not make it. The dragon bit Beowulf in the neck and Wiglaf ran to make sure he was okay, and he stapped the dragon. When Wiglaf stabbed the Dragon Beowulf stabbed the dragon as well as the story comes to an ending we then realize that Beowulf and the dragon died. Beowulf died while battling and killed the dragon, but he died and it was tragic. Beowulf was someone who followed through with what he was saying. He protected the people when they needed protection, and he still gave his best effort it was sad to see Beowulf die because I was expecting him to live, but knowing he died protecting people and he was a hero during that time. I was surprised by this story and the ending, I was not expecting to like this story as much as I did. I was expecting it to be boring, but it was interesting and caught my attention throughout the story of Beowulf. I was sad about the ending and a little bit upset that he had to die, but he died protecting the people and it was overall a really good ending/story.
